Terms and Conditions
Platform Use, Application Submission and Showcase Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 1 October 2026
These terms and conditions (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of the Additive Companion website, applications and related services (together, the “Platform”), including the submission, licensing, publication and use of case studies, images, diagrams, media, technical data, comments and other materials (“Submitted Content”). The Platform is operated by Additive Companion Limited, company number 14350270 whose registered office is at Flat 13 Meadway Court, Meadway, London NW11, United Kingdom (“Additive Companion”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By submitting an application, uploading Submitted Content, or approving a showcase listing on Additive Companion, you agree to be bound by these Terms, whether acting as an individual or on behalf of an organisation. By accessing or using the Platform, creating an account, submitting content, clicking to accept these Terms or approving a listing, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you act for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation, and “you” and “your” refer to both you and that organisation. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform or submit content.
1. Eligibility, Scope and Status of Listings
1.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to create an account, submit content or use any interactive feature. You must provide accurate registration information and keep account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless caused by our breach of duty.
1.2 Types of user
These Terms apply to visitors, registered users, individuals or organisations submitting content (“Submitters”), businesses or persons offering technology, products or services (“Providers”), and mentors or other contributors. A person acting wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession is a “Consumer”. All other users are “Business Users”.
1.3 Unclaimed Provider listings
To support a comprehensive and technology-agnostic directory, we may create a factual listing for a Provider using information supplied under licence or obtained from publicly available sources. Inclusion does not imply that the Provider has approved, endorsed or contracted with Additive Companion. A Provider may contact us at support@additivecompanion.com to claim a listing, propose corrections or raise a rights concern. We may request evidence of identity and authority before making a change.
1.4 Free and paid features
Unless expressly stated otherwise, access to the Platform is free. Any paid subscription, promoted listing, referral arrangement or other paid feature will be governed by additional terms disclosed before purchase. Sponsored or paid-for content will be identified as such. Payment does not guarantee any particular ranking, recommendation, lead volume or commercial result.
2. Submitted Content and Intellectual Property
2.1 Retained ownership
The Submitter (or its licensors) retains full, exclusive ownership of all intellectual property (IP) rights, trade marks, trade secrets, patents, registered designs, and copyrights inherent in their Submitted Content. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the Submitter's underlying IP or product designs to Additive Companion. You must not submit trade secrets or other information that you are not authorised to make public.
2.2 Licence grant to Additive Companion
By uploading or submitting any Submitted Content to Additive Companion, the Submitter grants us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up, sublicensable, and transferable licence to use the Submitted Content for the purposes set out below. The licence may be sublicensed only to our service providers, distributors, media partners and other contractors to the extent reasonably necessary to exercise the licensed rights, and may be transferred only in connection with a transfer of all or substantially all of the Platform or our relevant business.
- Host, store, reproduce, publish, publicly display, distribute, and frame Submitted Content on our website, mobile applications, digital platforms, and secondary promotional materials;
- Crop, resize, compress, or reformat images, videos, and visual media solely to conform with website design layouts, responsive displays, and mobile performance standards; and
- Feature Submitted Content across Additive Companion’s marketing campaigns, newsletter features, social media accounts, trade show displays, and industry reports.
- Index, categorise, tag, summarise, translate and make reasonable non-substantive editorial changes to Submitted Content for search, accessibility, consistency and presentation, provided that we will seek the Submitter’s approval before making a material change to technical data or meaning; and
- Retain reasonable archival and backup copies and evidence of publication, including after removal where required for legal, regulatory, security or record-keeping purposes.
2.3 Integrity of technical data
We will not knowingly alter technical parameters, numerical data, material specifications or performance metrics in a way that materially changes their meaning without the Submitter’s approval. We may correct obvious typographical errors, apply formatting and house style, add classifications or metadata, create summaries, and take other reasonable editorial steps. The Submitter remains responsible for the accuracy, substantiation and currency of Submitted Content.
2.4 Purpose and duration of licence
The licence granted under Section 2.2 is solely for the purposes of operating, expanding, promoting, indexing, and optimising the Platform and highlighting submitted applications, capabilities, or products to our global audience. The licence continues until the Submitted Content is removed in accordance with Section 6.4, except that it will continue for materials already lawfully distributed, reasonable backup and archival copies, and uses required to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
2.5 Moral rights and third-party rights
To the extent permitted by law, you waive, and will procure the waiver of, moral rights in Submitted Content solely to the extent necessary for us to exercise the licence in clause 2.2. If you cannot procure a waiver, you consent, and will obtain each relevant creator’s consent, to the acts permitted by that licence.
2.6 Platform rights
Except for Submitted Content and third-party materials, we or our licensors own all rights in the Platform, including its software, design, branding, taxonomy, selection and arrangement of content, and databases. No rights are granted except the limited right to use the Platform in accordance with these Terms.
2.7 Assistance with enforcement
You authorise us, but do not require us, to send notices, make platform complaints and deploy proportionate technical measures concerning suspected unauthorised copying of your Submitted Content from the Platform. We do not acquire ownership of your rights or authority to commence legal proceedings in your name without a separate written agreement. You will provide reasonable assistance if we investigate suspected misuse.
3. Platform Access and Acceptable Use
3.1 Permitted use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to access and use the Platform for lawful personal or internal business purposes. You must comply with applicable laws and any reasonable usage or technical limits notified on the Platform.
3.2 Prohibited conduct
You must not, and must not assist another person to:
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-download, systematically extract or create a substitute database from Platform content, whether manually or by automated means, except to the extent expressly permitted in writing or by a search-engine instruction published by us;
- Use Platform content or data to train, develop, test or improve an artificial intelligence or machine-learning model without our prior written permission and any permission required from the relevant rights holder;
- Copy, republish, sell, license or commercially exploit Platform content except as expressly permitted by the relevant rights holder;
- Circumvent access controls, probe security, introduce malware, overload the Platform, reverse engineer Platform software except where the law prevents that restriction, or interfere with another user;
- Impersonate another person, misrepresent an affiliation or manipulate searches, rankings, ratings or engagement;
- Submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, misleading, discriminatory, harassing, obscene, unsafe, infringing, confidential without authority, export-controlled, or designed to facilitate unlawful conduct; or
- Use contact details obtained through the Platform for unsolicited marketing or in breach of data protection or direct-marketing laws.
3.3 Availability and changes
We do not guarantee that the Platform or any content will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw all or any part of the Platform for operational, security, legal or commercial reasons.
4. Information, Impartiality and No Reliance
4.1 Technology-agnostic platform
Additive Companion is intended to provide technology-agnostic information and inspiration concerning additive manufacturing. Inclusion, exclusion, categorisation, search position or prominence does not constitute endorsement, certification or a representation that a technology, application, Provider or mentor is suitable for any particular purpose. Sponsored or paid-for content will be labelled, but commercial arrangements do not guarantee a particular outcome.
4.2 General information only
Platform content is provided for general information and must not be treated as engineering, design, manufacturing, medical, safety, legal, regulatory, investment or other professional advice. Case studies may describe results achieved in particular conditions and may not be reproducible in another application.
4.3 Independent assessment
You are responsible for independently evaluating information, carrying out appropriate due diligence and testing, obtaining specialist advice, and determining whether a technology, design, material, process, Provider or mentor is appropriate and legally compliant. This is especially important for medical, aerospace, automotive, defence, infrastructure and other safety-critical or regulated uses.
4.4 Third-party content and links
Third-party content, websites and services are outside our control. We do not verify all Platform content and do not warrant that it is complete, current or error-free. Links are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement. You use third-party sites and services subject to their own terms.
5. Submitter Representations and Warranties
By submitting content to Additive Companion, you confirm, and warrant on an ongoing basis, that:
- Authority: You are authorised to submit and publish your Submitted Content (whether acting on your own behalf or as an authorised representative of an organisation) and to grant the licence in clause 2.2;
- Permissions & Clearances: You have obtained any permissions reasonably required from customers, partners, photographers, employees, or other rights holders;
- Non-Infringement: Publication on Additive Companion does not infringe another person’s intellectual property, privacy, data protection, publicity, confidentiality or other rights;
- Accuracy and substantiation: Submitted Content is accurate in all material respects, is not misleading, fairly describes relevant limitations and conditions, and any technical, performance, comparative or environmental claim is supported by evidence you can provide on reasonable request;
- Personal data: You have provided all required privacy information and have a valid lawful basis for the proposed publication and use of personal data contained in Submitted Content;
- Confidentiality: Submitted Content does not contain trade secrets, classified information or confidential information that you are not authorised to publish;
- Lawful Content: The content is not unlawful, misleading, or subject to publication or export restrictions (such as restricted defence or export-controlled technical data including ITAR/EAR). You will not submit controlled technical data unless you have first obtained our written approval and all required licences or authorisations; and
- Updates: You will promptly notify us if Submitted Content becomes materially inaccurate, misleading, unlawful or unauthorised, or if a relevant permission is withdrawn.
6. Content Review, Moderation and Removal
6.1 Editorial review
We may review, reject, categorise, format, crop, resize, translate, summarise or make reasonable editorial changes to Submitted Content. We will seek the Submitter’s approval before publishing a change that materially alters technical meaning, except where a change or removal is reasonably required to address an apparent error, legal or safety risk, complaint, security issue or breach of these Terms.
6.2 Review and notice process
If we receive a credible complaint or identify a potential issue regarding any Submitted Content, we may temporarily hide or remove the content while it is reviewed. Where reasonably possible, we will inform you and give you an opportunity to respond before making a final decision. We may act without prior notice where reasonably necessary to comply with law, reduce risk, protect users or third parties, preserve evidence, address security concerns or prevent continuing harm.
6.3 Reporting content
Users may report content or conduct through the Report option on the content, or by email to support@additivecompanion.com. Reports should identify the content, explain the concern and provide relevant evidence. We may request further information. We will determine the appropriate action acting reasonably, but are not required to resolve private commercial or factual disputes between users.
6.4 Removal requests
The Submitter may unpublish or permanently remove their published application or images at any time directly through their account dashboard.
- Immediate Effect: Unpublishing or deleting an application through the dashboard instantly removes the content from public view and search indexation on the Platform. We may retain archival copies where reasonably necessary for legal, regulatory, security, or record-keeping purposes.
- Third-Party Caches: The Submitter acknowledges that complete removal from third-party search engine indexes (e.g., Google cache) or external archives may take additional time beyond our direct control.
- Prior Promotional Materials: Prior promotional materials (such as printed marketing materials or archived social media posts) distributed before the date of removal shall remain validly licensed.
6.5 Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict or terminate an account, listing or access to the Platform where we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms, created legal or security risk, repeatedly infringed third-party rights or misused the Platform. Where appropriate, we will give reasons and a reasonable opportunity to respond. You may stop using the Platform at any time and may request closure of your account at support@additivecompanion.com.
7. Business User Indemnity
This clause applies only where the Submitter is a Business User. The Submitter shall indemnify Additive Companion and its officers, employees and contractors against losses, liabilities, damages, costs and reasonable legal expenses finally awarded or agreed in settlement arising from a third-party claim caused by:
- A material breach of clause 5, including lack of authority, infringement, unlawful disclosure, misleading claims or failure to obtain required permissions;
- Submitted Content or the Submitter’s use of the Platform infringing or misappropriating a third party’s intellectual property, privacy, data protection, publicity or confidentiality rights; or
- Any dispute between the Submitter and a third party (such as a client, supplier, or end-user) regarding authorisation to showcase an application on Additive Companion.
We will give reasonable notice of a claim, permit the Submitter to participate in its defence and take reasonable steps to mitigate loss. The Submitter may not settle a claim in a way that admits liability by us or imposes an obligation on us without our prior written consent, not to be unreasonably withheld.
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing in these Terms affects a Consumer’s statutory rights.
- "As-Is" Showcase: Additive Companion provides the showcase platform on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no representations regarding lead generation, commercial success, accuracy, or web traffic resulting from publication. Subject to the preceding paragraph, we do not warrant that Platform content is complete, accurate, current, fit for a particular purpose or suitable for reliance without independent assessment.
- Public platform: Submitted Content is intended for public display. You must not submit confidential or proprietary information unless authorised for publication. This does not exclude our responsibility to handle personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law or to use reasonable security measures.
For Business Users: We will not be liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, anticipated savings, opportunity, goodwill or data or for any indirect or consequential loss arising from or connected with the Platform, a listing, Submitted Content, or an introduction or a transaction between users.
For Consumers: We are responsible for losses you suffer as a result of our breach of these Terms where those losses are a foreseeable consequence of our breach. We are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or for any business losses (including loss of profit, revenue, business, anticipated savings, opportunity or goodwill) arising from or in connection with the Platform, any listing or Submitted Content, or any introduction or transaction between users.
For both Business Users and Consumers: Our total aggregate liability to you arising under or in connection with these Terms in any 12-month period shall not exceed the greater of (a) £100 and (b) the fees paid to us in that period.
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, but this does not affect rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Introductions, Providers and Mentors
9.1 Neutral facilitator status
Additive Companion operates strictly as an independent directory, digital showcase, and introduction platform linking Users and Providers. Additive Companion is not a broker, agent, representative, employer, or party to any contract, agreement, transaction, or commercial relationship formed between parties connected through the website. Unless expressly stated in separate written terms, we do not receive or hold transaction funds and have no authority to bind any user.
9.2 No endorsement, vetting or guarantees
While Additive Companion strives to showcase reputable applications and entities, we do not verify, endorse, guarantee, or certify the qualifications, financial standing, production capabilities, quality of deliverables, or legal compliance of any Submitter, User, or Provider listed on or using the platform. Any interaction, enquiry, RFQ, or commercial project initiated through connections made on Additive Companion is conducted entirely at your own risk. Mentors and other contributors act independently and do not provide advice on our behalf.
9.3 Commercial relationships
Contracts, purchase orders, non-disclosure agreements and other arrangements made following an introduction are between the relevant users. Subject to clause 8, we are not responsible for goods, services, advice, delivery, payment, intellectual property or other acts or omissions of those users. The parties must resolve any dispute directly, although we may cooperate with lawful requests and take action concerning Platform access or content.
10. Rights Complaints and Takedown
10.1 Respect for rights
Additive Companion respects the intellectual property rights of creators, businesses, and third parties, and expects all Submitters and Users to do the same. This process also applies, with appropriate modifications, to privacy, confidentiality, defamation and other rights complaints.
10.2 Notice of infringement
If you believe that any image, text, diagram, or content hosted on Additive Companion infringes upon your copyright or trade mark rights, please send a written Notice of Infringement to support@additivecompanion.com containing the following information:
- A description of the copyrighted work or trade mark claimed to have been infringed;
- The specific URL(s) or web location on Additive Companion where the material is located;
- Your contact details (Name, Address, Phone Number, and Email Address);
- A statement of good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the IP owner, its agent, or the law; and
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the IP owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
We may ask for evidence of identity, ownership or authority and may share the substance of a complaint with the relevant Submitter where appropriate.
10.3 Takedown procedure and review
Upon receipt of a valid Notice of Infringement, Additive Companion will follow these steps:
- Temporary Removal: We will promptly hide or temporarily remove the identified content from public view on the Platform while the claim is being reviewed.
- Submitter Notification: We will notify the original Submitter of the content about the complaint and, where appropriate, provide them with an opportunity to respond or supply evidence of authorisation.
- Resolution: If the claim is verified or undisputed, the content will be permanently removed from the Platform. If the Submitter provides valid proof of authorization or ownership, we may restore the content or advise the parties to resolve the matter directly.
- Repeat Infringers: Additive Companion reserves the right to terminate the account or subscription of any user who repeatedly infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
Nothing in this clause requires us to adjudicate complex ownership disputes. We may keep content unavailable pending resolution by agreement, court order or another appropriate process.
11. Privacy and Communications
11.1 Privacy
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy available at additivecompanion.com/privacy. The Privacy Policy explains the purposes and lawful bases for processing, retention periods, disclosures, international transfers and individual rights. Acceptance of these Terms is not consent to processing where another lawful basis or separate consent is required.
11.2 Communications
We may send service communications necessary to administer an account, listing, submission or complaint. Marketing communications will be sent only as permitted by applicable law, and recipients may opt out using the method provided in the communication.
12. Online Safety and Community Features
Where the Platform enables users to upload or share content that may be encountered by other users, you must comply with clause 3 and any Community Guidelines published on the Platform. We may provide reporting, blocking, moderation and appeal tools appropriate to the Platform’s functionality and legal obligations. You must not misuse those tools or submit knowingly false or abusive reports.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any legal suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms or Submitted Content shall be instituted exclusively in the courts of England and Wales. If you are a Consumer resident elsewhere, you retain any mandatory rights and may bring proceedings in any court available to you under applicable consumer law.
14. International Use, Export Controls and Sanctions
You must comply with export-control, trade-sanctions and restricted-party laws applicable to you, us, the relevant Submitted Content and its proposed publication or transfer. You must not upload controlled technical data, defence material or information whose publication or transfer requires a licence unless you have notified us in advance, obtained our written approval and supplied evidence of all required authorisations. We may screen, restrict or remove content and access where reasonably necessary for compliance.
Data protection and moral rights are addressed in clauses 2, 5 and 11. International transfers of personal data will be made only where we have an appropriate legal mechanism or an applicable exception.
If we appoint and register a designated agent under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the agent’s details and the applicable notice procedure will be published on the Platform. Rights under applicable US state privacy laws will be explained in the Privacy Policy where relevant.
The Platform may be accessed globally. You are responsible for ensuring that your use and submissions comply with laws applicable to you. We do not represent that the Platform or all features are lawful or available in every country and may restrict access where reasonably necessary.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may amend these Terms to reflect changes to the Platform, law, security requirements or our business. We will post the updated Terms and update the “Last Updated” date. If a change materially affects registered users, we will give reasonable advance notice where practicable. A change will not retrospectively expand the licence for Submitted Content already provided unless you agree. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where the law requires express agreement.
16. General
16.1 Assignment
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may transfer these Terms in connection with a reorganisation, sale of the Platform or transfer of our relevant business, provided that this does not reduce a Consumer’s mandatory rights.
16.2 No partnership or agency
Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, fiduciary relationship, employment relationship or agency between you and us.
16.3 Entire agreement
For Business Users, these Terms and any additional terms expressly incorporated by reference constitute the entire agreement concerning their subject matter and supersede earlier statements relating to that subject matter. Neither party relies on a statement not set out in them, but this does not exclude liability for fraud.
16.4 Waiver and severability
A delay or failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, it will be treated as modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
16.5 Third-party rights
Except as expressly stated, a person who is not a party to these Terms has no right to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
16.6 Contact and notices
Questions, complaints and notices may be sent to support@additivecompanion.com, or by post to Additive Companion Limited, Flat 13 Meadway Court, Meadway, London NW11, United Kingdom. Notices to you may be sent to the email address associated with your account or submission. You must keep your contact details current.
16.7 Survival
Clauses which by their nature are intended to continue after account closure or termination, including clauses 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14 and this 16, will continue to apply.
