Application Publishing Guidelines

At Additive Companion, our mission is to showcase the real-world power and possibilities of additive manufacturing. By highlighting verified, real-world applications, we build a high-trust repository that inspires engineers, designers, and buyers across the globe.

Follow these simple guidelines to make sure your application stands out, inspires the community, and gets published quickly!

1. Baseline Criteria (The Core Essentials)

To maintain a trusted platform for everyone, every application must meet a few friendly baseline requirements before going live:

  • Real, Physical Builds: We celebrate real parts! Every submission must feature a component that has actually been manufactured using an AM process. Digital CAD renders, theoretical designs, and unbuilt concepts aren't eligible.
  • Authentic Photography: Show off your real work! Visual assets must be genuine photographs of actual physical builds or final assemblies. AI-generated images or synthetic renderings will not be accepted.
  • Ownership and IP Clearance: You or your organisation must have the proper authorisation to share the technical data and imagery you upload.
  • Friendly Review: Our moderation team reviews every submission to verify details. Entries that are incomplete, unverified, or use AI visuals will be returned to you with feedback so you can update them!

2. Image and Visual Criteria (Appearance)

Great visuals make your work shine! To ensure your application looks amazing across directory cards and detail pages, please follow these tips:

  • Aspect Ratio (Preferred): Use 4:3 landscape images for optimal framing across the platform. Consistent proportions preserve the sleek look of our collections.
  • Resolution and Quality (Required): Upload crisp, high-resolution imagery (we recommend the equivalent of 400 DPI) so users can appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of your build. Take some time to isolate backgrounds and compose images nicely to show off your work to best effect!

3. General Collection Requirements (All)

To publish your case study in the main searchable directory, simply complete the following details:

Required Fields for the General Collection:

  • Project Title: A concise title naming your component or system (up to 10 words).
  • Target Industry: Select the object’s primary commercial or industrial sector from our dropdown.
  • Additive Manufacturing Technology: Tell us the specific process used (e.g., DMLS, SLA, FDM, LMD).
  • Material Used: Specify the material used to manufacture the part.
  • Primary Application Image: At least one crisp, authentic photograph (4:3 landscape).
  • Project Story (Results): Fill out the Results box (up to 250 words) with at least one measurable metric.
  • Provider Attribution: Identify the lead provider linked to your profile.

Recommended Add-ons (Optional):

  • Collaborator Attribution: Give credit to co-developers, service providers, manufacturers, material suppliers, or post-processing partners.

4. Select Collection Requirements (Curated)

Want your project highlighted in our selective Curated Collection? Submissions in this collection represent our standout, high-impact applications. To qualify for curated review, your submission must meet all General requirements plus the following:

Required for Curated Status:

  • Expanded Project Story: Complete the Results section plus at least one additional narrative section (Challenge, Approach, or Solution; up to 250 words per section).
  • Ball-Park Production Cost: Select an estimated unit cost bracket to help buyers understand economic feasibility.

Extra Detail (Increases Your Chance of Being Curated):

  • Adding Detail to the Process Steps: Include information about the Design, Pre-Processing, Post Processing and Other stages. Here you will have the opportunity to include a lot more detailed information about the entire project.
  • Multi-Angle Gallery: Add a rich visual gallery of images that fully describes the project.

Thank you for sharing your great work with the global additive manufacturing community! We really look forward to receiving, reviewing and publishing your submissions.
