Selective Absorption Fusion

AM Type

Definition

Selective Absorption Fusion (SAF) is an AM technology type from the Binder Jetting category of AM. It uses an infrared-sensitive high-absorption fluid (HAF) to selectively fuse polymer powder particles. The HAF is jetted onto the powder bed in specific areas, and then exposed to infrared energy, causing those areas to melt and bond together. This process is repeated layer by layer to build a 3D object.
