Native CAD

Design Term

Definition

Native CAD refers to formats that are proprietary to specific CAD systems.

If you have the original software to read these formats, they will have the most information and be most accurate.

In an AM context, it is easier to make repairs or modifications with the native CAD file in the original software than doing so through an export file format.
