Purified x Rootfull

Purified x Rootfull is a collaboration aimed to re-interpret post-consumer waste (such as latex outsoles) into a growth mechanism that actively fuels future textile production, thus closing the loop on natural circularity.

Living root systems are computation­ally designed into complex lattices, with unprecedented control over their structural and functional properties. Rootfull’s vision is to establish a toolkit and foundational technology for programming living root systems to explore the dynamic plasticity of plant root and the materials it produces. Here this is achieved through the 3D print providing a scaffold for the root system to colonise. The aim is to extend the limits of 3D printing and usher in a new era of programmable, sustainable design.
