The Alloy series is a body of work based on a system of biomorphic, interlocking components. Rather than creating static sculptures, Melkovics designs individual modules that can be stacked and reconfigured in various combinations. This structural modularity mimics organic growth patterns, allowing the final assembled structures to appear fluid and dynamic while maintaining precise physical connection points.
To fabricate these complex interlocking shapes, Melkovics integrates digital design with traditional foundry methods. He first designs and 3D prints precise plastic models of each module to serve as master forms. These master forms are then used to create negative sand molds, into which molten aluminum is cast. The resulting metal components are finished and assembled, blending digital geometric precision with the lightweight substance of aluminium.

Can depend heavily on virgin fossil fuels, produce harmful emissions, and yield non-recyclable materials. Involves high energy consumption during material manufacturing. As an AM material, requires some re-processing after use. This rating relates to the technology type only. The design, purpose and longevity of the entire object can offset any of the technology type's negative sustainability credentials.
